the Greek "pseudos", meaning false,
and the Japanese word "sasa", meaning
slight.
Subfamily:
Bambusoideae
A
genus of 30–35 small to medium sized bamboo, which
usually have only one branch at a node. They tend to
have rather large leaves, with all except Psuedosasa
amabilis, being less than 24 feet tall at maturity.
Their super erect culms support an orderly mass of dark
green leaves and are less invasive than other runners.
Culture:
Requiring light or medium shade, Psuedosasa
does well in most soils and requires medium watering.
